Reviews for GROVE BOOKSHOP, ILKLEY

This would have been a 5 star review, as this is a lovely bookshop with a great selection of books, but my entire experience was ruined when I bought a book for my holiday recently. Just as I tapped my card to pay for it, the woman on the till heavily hinted at the storyline of the book. I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt but having finished the book this week, I can confirm that she totally ruined the plot. I read the whole book knowing where the story was going which really ruins a thriller and if she hadn’t done this, it would have been a great holiday read.

Charming independent on The Grove and just as you would like a book shop to be...great fiction/non-fiction all ages variety for relaxed browsing old and new literature. Great selection of OS maps!

Charming little bookshop right in the heart of Ilkley. For a small business this place has tons of books and cute little things. They have a wonderfully diverse curated books, even signed ones. You can get lost looking through the books and little notebooks and giveaways. Parking is located mostly in the back but some are in the front. Definitely check them out!

Was recommended this bookstore from another bookstore owner. Unfortunately it didn't have as much to offer as I'd imagined to say we ventured out on purpose. The atmosphere was a bit hushed and library like where you felt a bit self conscious to browse. I also felt the main staff member was dismissive of us, and other customers unless they were buying. The book selection was good, if a little niche on certain subjects. And with all the books being RRP, I didn't find much incentive to buy. It was alright.

A great independent bookshop in Ilkley. They have signed copies of books by speakers at the Ilkley book festival. They have two floors, with travel books in the basement as well as a section devoted to children's books in the rear.

Second time as the beautiful bookstore and the quality of service is fantastic. We go here more to buy for my 9 year old. Today the store assistant was really helpful and we left with three books and some excitement to read! Many thanks. Love this vibe here

Wanted to purchase 11 books at once. Was recommended to email titles and very promptly responded with prices, availability and how quickly they would be able to get hold of missing titles. All done super quickly and picked them all up the other day. Very happy reading

This is a lovingly curated independent bookseller, one of the best in the North of England. Despite its small size, the careful and idiosyncratic selection of books means that besides the bestsellers and classics, there are some interesting and eclectic choices too. It is particularly strong in fiction and history and travel, with a solid selection of new titles. The window displays are usually a visual treat and there is a very good collection of classical and jazz CDs downstairs. It is also the main bookshop partner to the Ilkley Literature Festival.
